If you're going to hire me, I want you to know the real me. I really feel like 2020 has shown that we are a lot more than who we are for the 40 hours we spend at our day jobs. So here's the "life" part of my work-life balance.
I have spent 17 years as a wife to an awesome husband. We have a son soon to be 13 years old this spring. Our household is completed with three adorable rescue pit bulls, who will charm even the staunchest anti-bully breed proponent. Our house is a little chaotic at times, but I wouldn't change a bit of it.
I have been both an athlete and a dancer during my lifetime. I spent 15 years playing ice hockey growing up, and hockey was always huge in my life. I don't play anymore, but I will always hold hockey in my heart. Volleyball and softball were also very big during the formative years. Dancing has stuck around quite a bit more. I began dancing at age three and continue to take the odd class to this day. As I grew as a dancer I transitioned over to choreography and I am lucky to be able to flex these skills within community theatre as well as a local high school. I have a (not so) secret goal of working my way to auditioning for a local dance company after I get my chops back a bit. Just typing that made me get butterflies. Whew.
I'm also a thespian. I really, really like to be on stage. Several years ago I discovered that I also really, really like to help kids be their best on stage. I mentioned choreographing above, but I also have delved into directing youth theatre. I just finished directing Legally Blonde, Jr. and the kids were a blast. At one point in my college life I was an education major, but after my first field observation I decided it wasn't for me and dropped the program. When I am working with kids on a show I see the appeal, though; it's amazing to see the progress kids make across the two to three months of a production.
